The FREC 3 First Response Emergency Care Kit is designed for responders trained to the certified First Response Emergency Care (FREC 3) and meets meets the staffing requirements detailed in the ‘Purple Guide’ for Health, Safety, and Welfare at Outdoor Events and is the only Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCS Ed) – Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care (FPHC) endorsed qualification listed in the ‘Purple Guide’ at PHEM D. It also adheres to the standards agreed by the First Aid Awarding Organisation Forum (FAAOF) and the Health and Safety Executive for first aid qualifications standard as set by Qualsafe

Catastrophic Haemorrhage Control (C)
Comprehensive bleeding management with a CAT tourniquet, haemostatic gauze, trauma dressings, and chest seals—enabling rapid control of life-threatening external haemorrhage in line with the (C)ABCDE primary survey. -
Airway Management (A) Includes Guedel and nasopharyngeal airways, lubricating jelly, and an adult bag-valve-mask system for safe airway clearance and ventilatory support while maintaining spinal protection where required.

Breathing Support (B) Supplied with key items to assess and assist ventilation and oxygenation, supporting recognition and management of chest injuries such as pneumothorax and ensuring effective respiratory care in trauma or medical emergencies.

Circulatory Support & Shock Management (C) Contains a Prometheus pelvic binder and intravenous access consumables (where permitted) to manage hypovolaemic shock and provide effective circulatory stabilisation, consistent with JRCALC trauma guidance.
