Winter update from DS Medical

Winter update from DS Medical

Posted by DS Medical on 9th Feb 2023

Welcome to the winter edition of our online newsletter

Firstly, we’d like to wish everyone a Happy New Year!

This year we have committed to meeting more of our customers through greater attendance at industry specific exhibitions and conferences.

Last week we attended Arab Health, meeting customers and suppliers, with a keen eye on market trends and new products.

We are also signed up to attend the Trauma Care Conference and Paramedic Conference, with plans to visit many more. Keep an eye on our social media channels about these. It would be great to meet many of you there!

We have a brand new traction splint - the Slishman STS-C Compact Traction Splint - which is exclusively available at DS Medical in the UK. We have also been putting together some great new kits including a Professional First Response Kit.

We’d also like to remind everyone about the Minds Matter Atlantic Rowing Challenge currently taking place, for which we are sponsors. Hampshire Firefighters Stu & Craig are raising awareness of mental health and supporting Solent Mind & The Firefighters Charity by taking on the world's toughest row: The Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge!

Read on below to find out more information, what special offers are currently available and to find out what else has been happening in the DS Medical world.

JRCALC

Combining expert advice with practical guidance, the Joint Royal Colleges Ambulance Liaison Committee Clinical Guidelines are the essential resource for paramedics. The guidelines are written specifically for the ambulance paramedic role, providing a comprehensive overview of the principal areas they may encounter, and supporting them in providing excellent patient care.

This 2022 edition has been updated with the latest evidence and developments in clinical practice. Key reviews have taken place on guidelines within the Resuscitation and Special Situations sections, as well as updates to Maternity guidelines such as Care of the Newborn and Newborn Life Support. Medicine guidelines have been removed, but are available on the iCPG and JRCALC Plus apps, where they are regularly updated to ensure that the most up-to-date guidance is available to clinicians. Hampshire Firefighters Stu & Craig are currently in the middle of taking on the world’s toughest row: The Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge!

Due to make landfall this month, they are raising awareness of mental health and supporting Solent Mind & The Firefighters Charity.

Mental health issues are responsible for 72 million working days lost, costing the UK economy £34.9 billion each year. Poor mental health severely impacts both individuals and their families, especially those in the emergency services.
