DS Medical: Sponsors of East London Rugby Club

DS Medical are delighted to announce they are the first Gold level sponsor of East London Rugby Football Club.
Based in West Ham, London, they are a popular amateur rugby club that has three men’s teams (1st XV, the Wyverns 2nd XV, and the Thirsty Thirds) and one women’s team (the Vixens). It also has a veterans’ team (Percy’s Pirates).
Club chair Simon Crick said: “We are delighted to have DS Medical with us as our first Gold level sponsor and we thank Richard Bourke and the team at DS Medical for their generosity. Richard has helped us with some sponsorship previously, but this increased level of commitment is truly welcome in these difficult coronavirus-related times when we are all experiencing challenges that affect our physical and mental health, livelihoods and social lives.
“We rely solely on the subscription fees our members pay to play the sport they love, a combination of fundraising activities, sponsorship and donations, and increasingly our volunteers spending money out of their own pockets to keep the club afloat. We are indebted to dedicated sponsors like DS Medical and others, who make a huge difference in enabling us to offer grassroots rugby and continue to build wealth in our local community.”
East London RFC began as Old Easthameians Rugby Club and was founded in 1950 by former pupils of East Ham Grammar School and played at various grounds. By 1973 the club was fielding five sides but with the demise of grammar schools in London, the club renamed itself East London RFC. In 1982 the club moved to its current home at Memorial Park, West Ham.
Richard Bourke comments, “We are delighted to support the East London Rugby Football Club. As a medical supplies business, we understand the importance of sport as a discipline for fitness and wellbeing.”
