A Disposable Scalpel with a plastic handle and stainless steel blade.
Key product features:
- Single use
- Sterile, individually packed
- Available in a range of size
The handle of the scalpel has a measuring scale on the back, which is only for reference and matches the range of stainless steel handles. It is also marked with the CE symbol, which used to only be on the outer packaging. The sterile scalpels come in a clear, thermoformed tray that makes it easier to see the product and helps with safe handling. The packaging also changes color if it has been tampered with, ensuring sterility until use.
Although disposable scalpels are not as stable as the traditional metal blade, they are still a convenient option for minor procedures outside of the operating room or in hospital wards. They are also used in emergency departments for quick treatment of trauma victims.
Disposable scalpels are now being included in procedure trays and custom packs, and are increasingly used in GP practices and community-based surgery centers where minor procedures are performed outside of hospitals.
